SWAT+ by hand vs ordering
Two ways to get a SWAT+ model of one watershed, the Boardman River down to Brown Bridge Pond in northern Michigan. By hand, in QSWAT+ 4.0.3: load a DEM and it traces the streams, place the outlet and it cuts the subbasins, then add land-use and soil maps, a lookup table and slope bands, and QSWAT+ builds the HRUs. The SWAT+ Editor comes next: weather data, the simulation period and the run. By hand, all of it starts once your data are ready: the DEM, the land-use and soil tables, and the climate data. Ordering, in the SWATGenX Explorer: click the river's watershed and it shades the same basin; the inputs are already chosen and the review lists them as defaults; you sign in and submit. QSWAT+ and the SWAT+ Editor run underneath, on the national stream network. The steps are automated; the engineering judgment, like calibration and scenarios, stays yours. Both halves are live: QSWAT+ run on our Mac, with the faster stretches of the session marked with their speed, and the Explorer captured signed out, up to the order's review: nothing is submitted.
